Understanding Crowns and Bridges
Dentures crowns are made to fit the tooth's entire surface. They restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are an excellent solution for teeth with severe decay, cracks, or breaks, as well as for teeth that have had root canal treatment. They are also used to cover discolored teeth or those with irregular shapes.
Dental bridges can be used to replace a single or multiple missing teeth. The bridges are made up of artificial teeth, or pontics, which are anchored onto adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges can restore your bite's functionality, help maintain your facial shape, and stop adjacent teeth from moving out of place. Bridges are an effective and reliable solution for missing teeth.
Different Types of Dental Crowns
Whittier Dental Studio offers a wide range of dental crowns to meet your needs.
Porcelain Crowns: These porcelain crowns are very popular because of their natural look and the ability to blend seamlessly with your teeth. These crowns are ideal for front teeth or areas where aesthetics is a priority.
Ceramic Crowns: Like porcelain crowns, these ceramic crowns have a natural appearance and are highly resistant to wear. Both front and rear teeth can be treated with them.
Metal Crowns: These metal crowns are made from gold alloys or other metals. They are very durable and are often used for molars when strength is important. Metal crowns are less likely than porcelain ones to break or chip.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) Crowns: These crowns combine the strength of metal with the aesthetic appeal of porcelain. The metal base provides strength, and the porcelain layer gives it a tooth-like look.

Zirconia Crowns: Zirconia Crowns are known for their strength and durability. They're a good choice for patients looking for a durable restoration. These crowns also have a very natural look and can be placed on both the front and back teeth.
Different Types of Dental Bridges

Traditional Bridges: This is the most common type, consisting of pontics that are anchored to adjacent natural teeth by dental crowns. They are durable and offer a good fit.
Cantilever Bridges: Used only when adjacent teeth are present on one side. Cantilever Bridges are supported by one crown or dental implant.
Maryland Bridges: Maryland bridges are also known as resin-bonded or resin-bonded bridges. They use a metal framework that is bonded onto the natural teeth adjacent to it. These bridges are less invasive, but they may not be as durable as traditional ones.
Bridges Supported by Implants: The bridges are attached to dental implants instead of natural teeth. These bridges are a long-lasting and stable solution for patients who have multiple missing teeth.
Crowns and Bridges Process:
Consultation and Evaluation
Amir Jamsheed will provide you with a thorough consultation and evaluation to begin your journey towards a restored smile. During your visit, Dr. Jamsheed examines your oral health and discusses your concerns and goals.
He will then determine the best treatment options to suit your needs. Diagnostic tools like X-rays or digital scans can be used to provide a clear view of the teeth and their supporting structures.
Prepare The Tooth
Preparation for dental crowns involves reshaping the tooth to accommodate the crown. It may be necessary to remove decayed, damaged, or broken portions of the tooth and shape it to achieve a good fit. To ensure your comfort, local anesthesia will be used.
To prepare the teeth adjacent to the bridge that will support it (abutment tooth), a small amount of enamel is removed for the crowns holding the bridge in position to be able to fit.
Impression and Temporary Restored
Digital scanning is used to take impressions after the teeth have been prepared. The impressions are then sent to the dental lab where your custom bridge or crown is made to match your natural teeth.
Dr. Jamsheed can place temporary bridges or crowns while your permanent restorations are being made to protect your teeth.
Fitting and Placement
You will need to return to Whittier Dental Studio after your crown or bridge has been made for fitting and placement. Dr. Jamsheed carefully checks the fit, alignment, and color of the restoration. This will ensure that it feels and looks natural. All adjustments are made to ensure a perfect fit.
The crown or bridge will then be permanently attached to your teeth with dental cement. Dr. Jamsheed provides you with specific instructions for how to maintain your new restoration.

★★★★★
As a kid I had so many bad experiences with dentist's and recently when one of my teeth deteriorated and broke, I knew I had to get some sort of implant and I was dreading it. Came into Dr Trinh’s office and I was told my choices. A Bridge or an implant, he broke each option down. I ended up going for the implant because I did not want to chip into the other 2 teeth required for the bridge. I’m about 3/4 of the way into the implant process (I just got the screw in) and it has been a 10/10 process so far. Him and his team always calmed my concerns and are very kind. Super excited to get my smile back :). Would totally recommend it.
